What are the minimum text sizes for print?
Small text can look fine on screen but become blurry or illegible once printed at sticker size, especially on smaller labels.
Our recommendations
- Keep body text no smaller than 6pt (around 2mm tall) for single-colour text
- For fine or thin fonts, go slightly larger - 7-8pt - to keep detail crisp
- Avoid very thin/light font weights at small sizes, as fine strokes can drop out during printing
Outlining your fonts
If you're supplying a PDF or vector file, it's good practice to convert your text to outlines (curves/paths) before sending it over. This means the exact font renders correctly even if we don't have that specific font installed.
Quick summary
- Minimum ~6pt for body text, slightly larger for thin fonts
- Avoid ultra-light font weights at small sizes
- Outline your fonts before exporting a print-ready file
